Training and Support
About RRACSSU | History
RRACSSU central provides training, information and support to Aboriginal children and adults in:
Child Care Centres,
Multifunctional Aboriginal Children’s Services,
JET Crèches,
Playgroups, and
Out of School Hours Care in areas south of Elliott in the Northern Territory. RRACSSU is here to give your service:
1. Support - On the job
Assisting staff with daily routines and discussing ideas as we go
Assisting the manager/coordinator with office duties, ordering, using computers/ cameras and printers, DEEWR reports, operational plans.
Doing activities with the children and staff to give staff new ideas.
Going on excursions and discussing travel safety, staff child ratios,
Signing permission forms.
Creating documents with staff, e.g. how to use the printer/scanner/photocopier.
Cooking and recipe ideas, nutrition.
The management and importance of cleaning routines for the building and toys. Discussing with staff the use of appropriate cleaning agents.
RRACSSU also has a number of Activity Boxes for loan to clients

2. Training - Through workshops
In-service training with other services at a central place e.g. Alice Springs
In-service training in the community in a quiet place away from the children
Non-accredited training for staff e.g. child development, team building, communication, child interactions, travel safety, programming, making stories (using English or the local language), using computers/IT equipment.
Consulting with your service for feedback on your training needs
3. Information - On the job
Updates on what is happening at the Secretariat of National Aboriginal and Islander Child care (SNAICC)
Providing resources
Any queries are discussed and followed up
